Bulls vs. Bears - The Finale
Yep, I'm going to wrap things up with this post...
Disclaimer: I would say "please don't do this at home," but since that would be hypocritical because, well, I did this at home, please be careful if you try something like this, but seriously, this is for entertainment purposes only and if you use this info to make a investment and/or trading descision and lose money, well, it's your own damn fault...
So anyway, while attending Online Trading Academy I learned about Candlestick Bull and Bear indicators for individual stocks and wondered if they would mean anything if I added them together, and that's what I've done in this feature...
For references, the NYSE will use the NYSE Composite Index (New Method: ^NYA), the NASDAQ will use the NASDAQ Composite (^IXIC), and the total of both will use the S&P 500 Index (^GSPC)
Or something like that...
We'll start by showing Candlestick indicators for the week of 11/5/2007 along with what happened that week...
NYSE Composite Index (New Method: ^NYA) 11/02/2007: Close - 10,052.28 103 Bulls/20 Bears 11/09/2007: Close - 9,733.34
NASDAQ Composite (^IXIC) 11/02/2007: Close - 2,810.28 78 Bulls/35 Bears 11/09/2007: Close - 2,627.94
S&P 500 Index (^GSPC) 11/02/2007: Close - 1,509.65 181 Bulls/55 Bears 11/09/2007: Close - 1,453.70 >
So did those indicators actually mean anything? Well, not at all, and here are the Candlestick indicators for the week of 11/12/2007 along with what happened that week...
NYSE Composite Index (New Method: ^NYA) 11/09/2007: Close - 9,733.34 75 Bulls/19 Bears 11/16/2007: Close - 9,701.38
NASDAQ Composite (^IXIC) 11/09/2007: Close - 2,627.94S 116 Bulls/34 Bears 11/16/2007: Close - 2,637.24
S&P 500 Index (^GSPC) 11/09/2007: Close - 1,453.70 191 Bulls/53 Bears 11/16/2007: Close - 1,458.74
Well, they actually got it right with the NASDAQ & S&P 500 this time, but I think it's now safe to say that you can't depend on the sum of individual Candlestick indicators to determine what is going to happen to the overall market...
I hope that everyone has a really Super Fantastic Week, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
